Specialist Speech and Language Therapist

I have always had a passion for advocacy and making others feel included and heard while also being fascinated by the world of medicine. Speech and Language Therapy provides me the ability to do both! I can help others by advocating for their right to a voice while also assessing and treating more medical based impairments such as dysphagia, post-laryngectomy, and stroke. Over the past 10 years I have been lucky enough to be able to work with a mixed caseload from neonates all the way to the elderly and I have loved every minute of it! I have been blessed to be a part of some of my client’s most precious memories such as watching a child say “mom” for the first time during play as well as supporting a client with having his first beer at the pub with family following complications with his Parkinson’s. Being a part of such special memories is the most rewarding part of my job.

My favourite word is ‘Affirm’. I like that your actions can instill an emotion in others. Whether it be telling your loved ones you love them, affirming to them that you care, giving a student an affirming smile during therapy instilling pride in themselves, and using the correct pronouns affirming someone’s identity making them feel seen and included.
