Senior Speech and Language Therapist

Before I learned about Speech and Language Therapy, I was trying to choose between my love for learning about language development during my Psychology degrees and my desire to help people. When I heard about Speech and Language Therapy, I realised I didn’t have to choose, there was a field out there that is the perfect combination of both! During my studies, I have loved learning about a whole range of speech, language, and communication differences and ways to support people holistically, and my placements where I got to put it into action were always my favourite part.

As a newly qualified SaLT, I am so excited to begin my professional journey at Magic Words Therapy. I can’t wait to help people across a whole range of ages and backgrounds find their voice, however that looks for them, and be there to support people and their loved ones on their journey with Speech and Language Therapy.

My favourite word is ‘apricity’ – an old word meaning “the warmth of the sun, especially in winter or on a cold day”. It’s a lovely reminder of how small things can make you feel better, even during the hardest times. I also love it as something to live by: when someone is having a cold day, try to be that bit of sunshine that brings them some warmth.

Think of people as people, not problems that need to be solved.
