Speech and Language Therapist

My passion for Speech and Language Therapy grew from my personal and professional experiences. As a young carer for my autistic brother and previous Speech and Language Therapy assistant, I saw the importance of communication and the transformative difference that support can make to a young person and their family’s lives! Communication is at the heart of how we connect, express ourselves, and navigate the world around us and my experiences inspired me to become a therapist to empower young people and their support networks by helping them feel heard, understood and valued.

I feel privileged to hear the unique stories of those I support and be part of their communication journey. I love working collaboratively to understand the whole person, celebrate strengths and advocate for individual needs. I am especially passionate about Neuroaffirming practice and supporting communication in meaningful ways, whether through spoken language, visuals, AAC and more! I feel fortunate that Speech and Language Therapy lets me put my values into practice and work towards a more accessible and inclusive world.

My favourite word is “curiosity” as we are always on a journey to explore and learn. Everyone’s communication and experiences are unique, and curiosity reminds me to ask questions, step away from assumptions and value differences. It also captures whimsical childhood curiosity that I never want to lose!
