I discovered speech and language therapy while working in the SEND department of a mainstream secondary school. Watching visiting SLTs help children find their voice and express themselves made me realise just how powerful communication can be. I’ve always wanted to work with children, but I knew teaching wasn’t my path. When I came across SLT, it felt like I’d finally found the work I was meant to do.
I especially enjoy working with early years and children with speech sound disorders. Every child has their own way of connecting with the world, and it’s a privilege to support them in building the skills and confidence to share who they are.
My favourite word is Inimitable - it means “so unique it can’t be copied,” and I love it because it celebrates individuality and the value of being truly yourself.
