Speech and Language Therapist
Speech and language therapy helps individuals to communicate effectively, participate and engage in the world around them. We are all unique in our abilities, strengths, and difficulties so there is never a ‘one size fits all’ approach. Being a speech and language therapist requires providing children and adults with a person-centred approach that enables them to communicate in any means necessary. After all… communication is more than just words! We work closely with the families and caregivers, and a variety of health and educational professionals to help support the individual with their communication difficulties. Being able to support children to communicate and achieve their goals is what makes the job so rewarding!
My favourite word is ‘Scrumdiddlyumptious’ meaning “extremely scrumptious; excellent, splendid; (esp. of food) delicious”. This word was originally created by Roald Dahl in the BFG — just one of his many fantastic fictional words which have now been added to the Oxford English Dictionary! It’s fun to say and I remember when I first started reading Roald Dahl’s books as a child.
